Joel B. Weinberg, CEO and Founder
Joel B. Weinberg is the CEO and Founder of Insolvency Services Group. He began his career as a corporate and tax lawyer, and for more than 30 years specialized in commercial bankruptcy and debt restructuring work. He has developed significant expertise with regard to non-bankruptcy alternatives including, general assignments, receiverships and creditor moratorium and composition agreements.
Mr. Weinberg also serves as a mediator in the mediation program established by the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California. Recently, Mr. Weinberg was awarded certificates of recognition from the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California in connection with his role as a mediator.
Mr. Weinberg obtained his Juris Doctorate, cum laude, from Loyola Marymount University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Stanford University. He has lectured and written extensively on a broad range of bankruptcy and reorganization topics including, general assignments under California Law. Mr. Weinberg is also an adjunct professor of law at Loyola Law School, where he teaches bankruptcy law.
Gunther Gee, Senior Consultant
Gunther Gee is a Senior Consultant with Insolvency Services Group and is primarily responsible for due diligence, case structuring and overall case management. He has provided insolvency and litigation support services for more than 200 cases in a variety of industries. He was formerly a Senior Consultant in PricewaterhouseCoopers’ bankruptcy and litigation consulting group.
An experienced operating officer, Mr. Gee previously held several executive positions within the telecommunications industry. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and Accounting from the University of the Pacific.
Rodger Benson, Senior Consultant
Rodger Benson is a Senior Consultant with Insolvency Services Group. With more than 10 years’ experience in the insolvency services industry, Mr. Benson manages case operations support and oversees the delivery of all client and creditor services. He has consulted on approximately 150 cases across a range of industries, including general assignments, receiverships and various bankruptcy liquidation scenarios.
In addition to his managerial duties, he directs and performs financial analysis and writes and directs creditor communications, as may be required by the case. Previously, Mr. Benson held operational, marketing and executive positions at Eastman Kodak Company, Hewlett Packard, AT&T and at two start-up telecommunications companies. Mr. Benson obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from Gannon University in Pennsylvania.
Maryam Ghazi, Senior Advisor
Maryam Ghazi is a Senior Advisor with Insolvency Services Group. She is a turnaround expert with a proven track record of developing strategic business solutions and implementing financial measures for corporate and institutional clients in a wide range of industries. Previously, Ms. Ghazi was the Managing Director of the Corporate Finance Division of FTI Consulting, Inc., where she held numerous director and consultant positions for more than 10 years.
She obtained a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of California, Berkeley’s Walter A. Haas School of Business and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Economics from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
Gregory Scott, Project Manager
Gregory Scott is a Project Manager with Insolvency Services Group. He provides on-site project management, performs financial analysis and manages preference recovery activities. He has more than 20 years’ experience in project management, engineering, manufacturing and IT management in varied and diverse business environments.
Mr. Scott obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Drexel University and a Master’s degree in Systems Management from the University of Southern California. Mr. Scott is an active member of the Project Management Institute.
Denise Jacques, Senior Consultant
Denise Jacques is a Senior Consultant with Insolvency Services Group and has worked in the insolvency services industry for more than five years. She is a Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) with more than 20 years’ experience in accounting, finance and payroll. Ms. Jacques manages the group responsible for tax compliance, court-mandated financial reporting and U.S. Trustee reporting. She directs and performs case financial evaluations and analysis and manages all aspects of distributions and case closures.
Previously, she held positions as a finance manager, human resources director and payroll manager at medium-to-large companies. Ms. Jacques obtained her Master’s degree and a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from California Polytechnic University, Pomona.
Colleen M. Mansfield, Case and Claims Administration Supervisor
Colleen M. Mansfield is a Supervisor in case and claims administration with Insolvency Services Group. She has more than five years’ experience in the insolvency services industry and more than 20 years of supervisory and managerial experience with various financial institutions. She manages the group responsible for case administrative support, creditor communications, claims processing and vetting and case logistical support, including case records management.
Maria E. Vargas, Staff Consultant
Maria E. Vargas is a Staff Consultant with Insolvency Services Group and has worked in the insolvency services industry for more than six years, and in the accounting profession for more than 20 years. She provides case accounting support, budget development and administration, financial analysis, on-site coordination and field project management.
Ms. Vargas obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from California State University, Fullerton.
Diana Johnson, Staff Consultant
Diana Johnson is a Staff Consultant with Insolvency Services Group. Ms. Johnson is a Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) with more than 20 years’ experience in accounting and payroll. She manages cash receipts, disbursements and bank reconciliation processes for all cases and assists with the preparation of monthly court-ordered reports and U.S. Trustee reporting. She also manages payroll tax compliance for the various cases.
Kayleigh M. Painter, Staff Consultant
Kayleigh M. Painter is a Staff Consultant with Insolvency Services Group and was previously an intern with the company. Her focus is on-site field management, creditor communications, case administration and logistics and claims management. Ms. Painter obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from the University of Pittsburgh.
Kristen M. Painter, Staff Consultant
Kristen M. Painter is a Staff Consultant with Insolvency Services Group focusing primarily on claims administration, creditor communications, logistics and case records management. She previously interned at the University of Pittsburgh Archives Service Center in records analysis logistics. Ms. Painter obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pittsburgh.
Carly Springer, Staff Consultant
Carly Springer is a Staff Consultant with Insolvency Services Group. Carly focuses on creditor communications, case records management and claims administration. She has more than six years of customer service experience. Ms. Springer obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University Long Beach.
